About

The Pin Point Heritage Museum occupies the former A.S. Varn & Son Oyster and Crab Factory near the Moon River marsh, southeast of Savannah. Pin Point was founded in the 1890s by formerly enslaved African Americans and their descendants.

Exhibits and guided tours explore the community's Gullah Geechee culture, including its religion, language, food and work on the water, through the stories of residents who grew up in Pin Point. The Coastal Heritage Society runs the museum.

Tips

  • About 9 miles from downtown Savannah in a straight line, so plan it as a drive.
